Adsense Ad Review Center: Some Short Overview

  •  Types of ads you can review in the Ad Review Center

You can review ads of all targeting types (contextual, interest-based, and placement) in the Ad Review Center once they’ve shown up on your site. In the horizontal bar at the top of the page, select the Shown subtab to see the ads that have appeared on your site in the last 30 days.

  • Revenue impact of blocking ads

Blocking ads may have a negative revenue impact because blocked ads won't compete in the auction on your site, and therefore won't drive up potential earnings for that ad space. Also, advertisers whose ads you block may choose not to target your site again in the future.
Choosing the "hold ads" setting may also decrease your revenue, because ads that are awaiting review won't participate in the auction either. Please consider the potential revenue impact before choosing to hold ads rather than running them immediately.

  • Which ads can you block in the Ad Review Center

The Ad Review Center allows you to block placement-targeted ads before they show up on your site, and ads of all targeting types (contextual, interest-based, and placement) after they’ve shown on your site. The Ad Review Center can be used to review ads for AdSense for content, AdSense for feeds, and AdSense for mobile.

  • Why blocked ads may still appear in the Ad Review Center

When you block an ad by advertiser URL or by ad category, you may still see that ad awaiting review in the Ad Review Center. This is because in the Ad Review Center we show all ads that have received at least a small number of impressions in the last 30 days.
As such, an ad blocked by URL or category is not immediately removed from the Ad Review Center as it still has old impressions from the last 30 days. Instead, the ad moves down the list of ads for review (which are ranked by the number of impressions they’ve received) until it no longer receives enough impressions to meet the minimum threshold and drops off the list.

  • Why blocked ads are still showing up on the page

If you've never approved an ad before, there may be a delay of up to 24 hours between the time you block a previously-allowed ad and the time that ad is no longer eligible to run on your site. For ads that you've previously approved, it may take up to 24 hours from the time you block a previously-approved ad before it stops showing on your pages.

  • Keyboard shortcuts in the Ad Review Center

To facilitate and quicken the review of individual ads and choose whether to let them show on your pages or not, there are keyboard shortcuts available for the Ad Review Center. Below are summaries of the keyboard actions available and the result of those actions:
